The R+D department of Idasa has developed an innovative robot system for treating injected plastics in all sectors. This development is the result of research, tests and collaborations carried out with different manufacturers, both on the basic materials (injected plastics) and on the finished products.
The use of multiple-use technical injected plastics, such as those used in the car industry, present various problems when it is decided to apply paint or other finishing components to the parts, (glues, adhesives, other plastics etc.). The flaming technique is used to solve this problem. This is a treatment consisting of applying a heat source to the surface of the injected plastic in a uniform way, at a certain temperature and for a certain time, to break the material’s surface tension, ionising the molecules of the surface layer. Once the plastic has been submitted to this treatment, it remains as a permanent feature which can be made use of in later covering processes.
The robot system takes charge of keeping the time, speed and distance parameters constant, while the flaming regulation system keeps the flame temperature constant.
